Plymouth Vicksburg Lane Reconstruction and Expansion

Plymouth, Minnesota

The City of Plymouth has long anticipated the recently completed improvements to this arterial State Aid roadway through its expanding Northwest corner. The project included more than two miles of reconstruction and expansion of the existing two-lane rural section to a four-lane urban roadway with off-street trails from Old Rockford Road to the Maple Grove City boundary. SRF provided preliminary design, environmental documentation, right-of-way acquisition services, final design, and construction services for this two-phase project.

During construction, SRF provided construction observation, staking, coordination of testing, plan interpretation, and expertise on the State Aid construction requirements. Project highlights include:

  • Full reconstruction and expansion of the roadway from two to four lanes with concrete curb and gutter
  • Installation of multi-use, two-way trails on both sides of the roadway
  • Stormwater BMPs including an infiltration basin
  • Roadway bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railroad
  • Pedestrian bridge over Vicksburg Lane North with connections to the Northwest Greenway on both sides of the roadway
  • Roadway vertical and horizontal re-alignment near the hill at 60th Avenue North to drastically improve sightlines and operational safety for all users
  • Modular block and cast-in-place concrete retaining walls
