The Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Project is a critical flood risk management initiative designed to protect communities in North Dakota and Minnesota from severe flooding events. SRF has played an integral role in supporting this transformative project by providing real estate acquisition and relocation services.

SRF’s team facilitated the right-of-way acquisitions required for the project, which included the total acquisition of commercial properties, 11 residential homes, and the relocation of 129 apartment units. Given the sensitive nature of these relocations, SRF’s Right of Way and Relocation Specialists prioritized building trust with tenants well in advance of the relocation process.

Proactive engagement was a cornerstone of the relocation strategy. SRF team members conducted multiple tenant contacts months before the relocation process began, establishing strong relationships and creating a foundation of trust. These relationships proved invaluable in working closely with families to ensure a smooth and supportive relocation experience.

The project demonstrates SRF’s ability to manage complex real estate and relocation challenges with sensitivity and efficiency. By balancing technical expertise with a people-first approach, SRF has helped advance the Fargo-Moorhead Diversion Project while prioritizing the well-being of the affected community.
