Dakota Rail Trail Extension and Bridges over TH 7 and CSAH 92

St. Bonifacius, Minnesota

The Dakota Rail Trail has become one of Three Rivers Park District’s most successful trail projects. In pursuit of funding from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA), the Park District worked with SRF to design a trail extension and bridges over TH 7 and CSAH 92.

After selecting a steel truss for the main span for both bridges and steel girders for the approaches on the TH 7 bridge, SRF developed final bridge plans, trail plans, and bidding documents for client and MnDOT review.

SRF’s involvement continued through bidding and construction administration and observation where we provided contract administration, construction observation, and materials sampling and testing services. Since this was an ARRA project, very detailed project documentation was required to comply with federal and state requirements. The project was audited by FHWA staff and no findings were noted.
