City of Hopkins ADA Transition Plan

Hopkins, Minnesota

Consistent with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City of Hopkins partnered with SRF to develop an ADA Transition Plan for public rights-of-way. SRF’s role was to perform field work and inventories of sidewalks, curb ramps, trails, and pedestrian signals and prepare a federally compliant ADA transition plan. SRF completed the following GIS tasks:

  • Built an ArcGIS geodatabase of curb ramps, sidewalks, and accessible pedestrian signals.
  • Built attributes for field editing with filed aliases in the form of questions for the data collection staff.
  • Published and hosted the ADA and reference features in ArcGIS Online for field data collection with Collector for ArcGIS.
  • Set up ADA features for editor tracking and attachments such as pictures taken in the field.
  • Shared the Online maps and data with city staff.

Our team delivered an ArcGIS geodatabse of ADA features for the entire city. SRF also coordinated public and stakeholder outreach for the plan, developed a local grievance procedure, and assembled various city policies that are relevant to ADA.
