The Bottineau Boulevard (CSAH 81) corridor runs from the dense urban areas of North Minneapolis to 93rd Avenue in Maple Grove. To aid in their planning efforts, Hennepin County contracted with SRF to provide engineering, urban design, and environmental services for the $85 million corridor reconstruction and busway design.
The segment running through the City of Crystal involved constructing a bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railway. This highly complex project involved enhanced stakeholder engagement with adjacent commercial shopping centers, hospitals, airports, and the railroad to develop designs and management of traffic documents that exceeded user demands. The project consisted of 2,894 linear feet of MSE retaining walls and a 124-foot, single-span, prestressed concrete bridge. Extensive coordination with Canadian Pacific Railway was required to ensure the design obtained drainage and horizontal clearance requirements.
