The Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) selected SRF to design the Apple Valley Transit Station and BRT station stops at 140th and 147th Streets, key infrastructure components in the Cedar Avenue Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor.
These multimodal investments represent the next generation of transit service in the City of Apple Valley, helping to improve rider access, safety, and efficiency.
Interagency Collaboration and Transit System Design
SRF collaborated with a range of local and regional partners, including:
- MVTA
- City of Apple Valley
- Dakota County
- Metropolitan Council
- Metro Transit
- Dakota County Regional Rail Authority
This joint effort ensured that the station designs aligned with regional mobility goals and local development patterns.
Station Features and Transit Connectivity
The Apple Valley Transit Station is located just north of 155th Street and features:
- Northbound and southbound BRT stations connected by a pedestrian skyway
- A structured parking ramp and surface lots offering approximately 950 parking stalls
- Multimodal access for pedestrians, bikes, and vehicles
The 140th Street and 147th Street stations also include paired northbound and southbound stops, each connected by dedicated pedestrian skyways over Cedar Avenue.
SRF provided construction administration and oversight for the transit station, which continues to serve as a high-capacity anchor for transit operations in the corridor.
