Preserve Boulevard in Eden Prairie provides an important multi modal connection between the Regional Mall on the north and an active residential area and Eden Lake Elementary School on the south. The City of Eden Prairie retained SRF to study traffic operations and prepare preliminary and final design for street reconstruction and utility improvements to improve safety and enhance pedestrian activity along the corridor. The existing storm sewer system along Preserve Boulevard conveys stormwater from Eden Lake to Neill Lake. Existing houses around Eden Lake have experienced occasional flooding due to restricted discharge rates from the lake. SRF designed a duplex stormwater lift station with variable speed pumps to reduce the flood elevation and duration of Eden Lake while not increasing flooding on Neill Lake downstream. The 24-inch forcemain was directionally drilled in a number of locations to accommodate staging and not disturb existing utilities.
