SRF partnered with the City of Plymouth to help develop, design, and construct the Northwest Greenway Trail, a long-term recreational asset located within a preserved greenway corridor in the city’s northwest section. The trail system is designed to link neighborhoods, parks, schools, and existing trails, offering a safe, scenic, off-road recreation alternative for Plymouth residents.
Phased Trail Construction and Natural Resource Integration
Spanning more than 300 acres, 7.7 miles of trail and several amenities have been constructed, including:
- Boardwalks and pedestrian bridges
- Local trail connections to community destinations
- Rest areas designed for trail users
- Routes through remnant Big Woods landscapes and former agricultural land
- Trailhead facility with parking, a pavilion, trail connections, and a challenge course
SRF designed each trail segment and amenity with sensitivity to the site’s environmental character, helping preserve open space and wildlife habitat while expanding recreational access.
A Trail System Designed for Long-Term Impact
While the area around the greenway continues to grow with residential and commercial development, it has become a key piece of Plymouth’s open space network, supporting the City’s goals for environmental stewardship, healthy living, and community connectivity.
