Planning a Destination Park in the Heart of the Community
SRF partnered with the City of St. Michael on the concept planning and design of a new signature park adjacent to City Hall, the public library, and the senior center, anchoring the city’s new civic campus. The park was envisioned as a year-round community destination that supports recreation, events, and intergenerational programming.
Park Programming and Community Amenities
The concept plan included a variety of features designed to meet the diverse needs of residents:
-
- A large, multi-purpose open lawn for special events and group picnics
-
- A water splash pad and destination play area
-
- A combined restroom and changing room facility
-
- Reservable picnic shelters for small gatherings
To support active recreation and social connection, additional amenities include pickleball courts, a synthetic turf lawn game area, and an expanded patio with seating tailored to senior center visitors.
Trail Connections and Natural Features
A looped 1-mile trail system circles an existing storm pond near the park. As part of the plan, this pond was restored as a natural preserve, offering visitors an additional passive recreation experience within the park.
