Living Our Values: Empowering the Next Generation

SRF staff giving a presentation to university students.

Our “Living Our Values — Every Project, Every Decision, Every Day” initiative continues to bring forth wonderful stories of how SRF staff are making a real difference. Today, we’re excited to share a submission that highlights our commitment to Community by investing in its future.

Today’s story comes from Kara Langford, Project Manager in our Urban Mobility and Infrastructure Group. Earlier this year, Kara, along with her colleagues Chandler Lallak and Eric Elert, gave a presentation to the University of Minnesota’s Interdisciplinary Transportation Student Organization (ITSO). They spoke about the innovative LINK BRT project in Rochester, Minnesota — a project many at SRF are eager to see come to life.

Kara described this not just as a chance to showcase exciting work, but more importantly, as a way to “engage with young engineers who are just starting to explore the possibilities in transportation design.”

By sharing their experiences and insights into the LINK BRT project’s community impact, Kara, Chandler, and Eric helped support the next generation of engineers. As Kara noted, it’s vital “to nurture the next generation… and offer guidance as they step into roles that shape our communities.”

Thank you, Kara, Chandler, and Eric, for championing our values and investing in the future!
