SRF’s Public Engagement Team is ready to support our clients in developing online solutions for meetings and public engagement activities during this challenging time. We are committed to providing our clients with adaptable, high-quality engagement tools to serve as alternatives to in-person engagement activities.
Remote Platforms for Project Meetings
We are using the Zoom online meeting platform to conduct telephone calls and video conferences. Zoom provides options for call-in and video conferencing for up to 500 people. It also has features like an interactive “white board” and online polling. This tool is ideal for both small team meetings and large public meetings.
Tools for Great Online Public and Stakeholder Engagement
SRF has a suite of online tools that serve as alternatives to in-person public meetings and stakeholder engagement events (including open houses, pop-ups, community workshops, and listening sessions). The following tools can be used as stand-alone alternatives to in-person engagement or in combination to best meet the needs of your project.
Narrated Video Presentation (with captions): A narrated presentation can be played on a project website or embedded on social media. Here are recent examples that SRF has completed with Otter Tail County and the City of New London.
Facebook Live Meeting: SRF has hosted Facebook Live meetings for a variety of projects. This allows for real-time interaction with community stakeholders and can be shared on social media or a project web page as a narrated video presentation.
Online Open House: We can use interactive online platforms, such as dashboards, surveys, WikiMaps and StoryMaps, all of which combine presentation elements and interactive maps. Here is a recent example of an online open house from the Rush Line BRT project.
Social Media Polls and Promotion: Twitter and Facebook polls can work as alternatives to in-person voting exercises. These platforms offer opportunities for two-way communication with stakeholders. In addition, social media is an important tool for informing the public and promoting alternative engagement activities. |
Additional Online Platforms
These additional platforms also offer interactive engagement and two-way communication:
SRF’s Public Engagement Team is available to answer questions, strategize alternative engagement solutions and provide support to our clients and community stakeholders.
