The City of Glendale partnered with SRF to update its Community Vision Plan, a guiding document developed to reflect the community’s values and chart a path toward future goals. The effort focused on gathering broad public input, identifying key priorities, and establishing a shared long-term vision to support City decision-making.
Visioning Through Community Engagement
The planning process kicked off with early collaboration between SRF, City staff, and a Visioning Committee to conduct a comprehensive Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats (SWOT) analysis. This foundational work helped define core opportunities and challenges facing Glendale’s future.
Recognizing the importance of inclusive public engagement, SRF implemented a two-pronged strategy:
- Online survey: Designed for convenience, the survey allowed residents to share thoughts from home. Nearly 350 responses were received, offering insights on what residents value and what they want to improve.
- Pop-up events: In-person engagement was conducted at key community locations, including Bayshore Town Center during the Christmas Tree Lighting and Nicolet High School. These events created opportunities for residents of all ages to provide input in a casual, welcoming environment.
Interactive activities, visual prompts, and open discussions helped make the process engaging and accessible to all participants.
Delivering a Shared Vision Plan
Following the public input phase, SRF collaborated with the City and Visioning Committee to synthesize findings and develop a forward-looking Vision Plan. The resulting document guides future development, investment, and policy decisions in Glendale, grounded in community voices and shared aspirations.
