Initiated by the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation in cooperation with the City of Saint Paul, Landmark Plaza is a hub of daily activity and a key open space linking the core of downtown Saint Paul with the Mississippi River. SRF led the interactive concept development process, prepared construction documents, and provided bid management and in-construction services.
The forms and materials were selected to reflect a distinct urban character, complementing the park’s unique setting amid historic and contemporary architecture. The design is environmentally responsible, equipped with innovative on-site stormwater treatment and detention systems, artfully expressed in the form of a streambed. Public art within the park interprets the site’s past and describes the role of the urban streambed. Community participation is recognized through a donor recognition program.
SRF also provided design services for 5th and Market Streets, which are adjacent to Landmark Plaza. The resulting integrated park and public space provides intimate spaces for passive day-to-day use and the flexibility to host large community celebrations.
