We are seeking an entry level drainage engineer to join our Civil Design Group in our Minneapolis office. SRF offers a hybrid work model, allowing our staff to work from the office full-time or work part-time in the office and part-time remotely after approximately one year of working full time in the office during training.  As a Drainage Engineer, you will assist with the design of a variety of transportation focused drainage projects for public sector clients such as cities, counties, and transportation departments. Civil Drainage Areas of Design (not exhaustive):

  • Roadway drainage system layout and design, including storm sewer and culvert design.
  • Design of Best Management Practices (BMPs) such as wet ponds, infiltration basins, filtration ditches, etc.
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling.
  • Design of erosion control and sediment management BMPs.
  • Stormwater permitting.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Biosystems Engineering.
  • 0-2 years of prior related drainage design experience.
  • Familiarity with construction plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) certification or ability to attain within 6 months required.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a flexible team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
  • Previous experience with CAD and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling applications (e.g. SWMM,  Hydro CAD,  Microstation/Geopak/ORD, and/or AutoCAD).
