We are seeking an intern to join our MN Traffic Forecasting/Modeling Group in our Minneapolis, MN office. This group is responsible for conducting:

  • Corridor studies
  • Sub-area studies
  • Traffic impact studies
  • Freeway modeling
  • Traffic forecasting
  • Traffic safety and other specialized traffic analysis work

The chosen candidate will work up to 40 hours per week during the summer. We also desire the intern to work part-time hours during the 2021 spring semester.  Please note the internship will require working onsite at our Minneapolis office. Looking forward to the future? This position has the potential for full-time employment upon graduation from the respective accredited Civil Engineering program.

Highlighted Responsibilities

  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing large and diverse sets of traffic data
  • Develop network coding to collect and analyze data sets
  • Conducting technical analysis using traffic simulation and modeling programs
  • Developing documentation and presentation materials to support analysis work

This Position Provides a great opportunity to be familiar with industry standard traffic engineering and demand forecasting practices and expand your coursework knowledge to real life projects. You will be paired with one/more senior member in the group to assist in different project which not only will help you to develop your technical skills but also to build internal connections and network.


  • Current enrollment in a civil engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related program
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills are a plus
  • Students with 1-3 semesters remaining to complete their degree are desired / preferred
