We are seeking a full-time Estimator to join the growing Project Controls Group in our Minneapolis office.  As an Estimator, you will have the opportunity to work on transportation projects including Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, and complex roadway/bridge project in the region. You will also have flexibility in setting your regular schedule as well as some limited ability to work remotely. Growth opportunities include leading estimate efforts, training/developing younger staff, and implementing new strategies like 4D schedules.

Highlighted Duties

  • Prepare estimates at all project levels including conceptual, 30/60/90 percent design and during construction
  • Develop estimates for use in all areas of business lines
  • Utilize major software tools such as HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, and AGTEK; understanding and fluency in those software tools required
  • Develop project estimates in accordance with company standards with minimal
  • Use strong interpersonal skills in client interactions
  • Ability to maintain budget for work
  • Additional duties as assigned


  • Related 2- or 4-year degree with 3+ years of experience
    OR 6+ years’ relevant experience without degree
  • AACE International certifications preferred, other Cost certification may be considered
  • Contractor management experience in a profit/loss position (estimator/manager, etc.), heavy civil experience preferred
  • Prior MnDOT experience in cost and schedule functions
  • Fluency in all phases of design development, construction, environmental and planning efforts
  • Strong ability to understand cost/schedule/risk relationships
  • Ability to promote and perform in a team environment
  • Ability to heavily support conceptual cost efforts for transportation projects
  • Ability to build cost estimates and schedules from the beginning stage
  • Ability to write Basis of Estimate/ to AACE International standards
  • Great transparency in work product
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to support forensic efforts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to successfully interact with clients
