We are pleased to announce the addition of Jon Haukaas, a regional Municipal Leader, to the SRF team. Jon has joined the Civil Design Group working with SRF’s Vice President Mitch Rasmussen to evolve the firm’s municipal portfolio and expand the opportunities available for the company.
Jon has more than 25 years of experience leading Public Works Departments and understands the needs of a local government in Minnesota. His expertise includes municipal utilities, neighborhood street improvements, stormwater management, and flood control, emergency management, and strategic planning. His technical experience also consists of a solid background in applying an asset management approach to long-term infrastructure planning, maintenance, and operations.
He has been the Director of Public Works for the City of Blaine since late 2017, leading the organization through a complete renovation of its water system. The overall project included upgrades to well houses, chemical feed systems, construction of a new 8 MGD Water Treatment Plant, and complete replacement of the utility SCADA system. Jon also led the city’s involvement in Minnesota’s first Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study for improvements to Trunk Highway 65 and the subsequent NEPA and preliminary design processes.
Previously he held the positions of Deputy Utility Director for Water Engineering and Field Services in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Director of Public Works/City Engineer for the City of Fridley, MN.
