We are seeking a full-time Transportation Planner to join our team in Omaha, NE. This position will assist with the development of a variety of planning projects including transit plans, multimodal corridor studies, subarea studies, regional transportation plans, freight studies, and policy development.

Responsibilities:

  • Employing performance measures to evaluate alternate action concepts.
  • GIS mapping and spatial analysis.
  • Support planning studies and reports for new and updated plans and programs.
  • Assists with data collection and analysis.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and generation of informative maps for reports and presentations using GIS software.
  • Support the development of transportation and transit plans/studies with statistical analysis on a variety of topics such as Census information, land use, roadway and transit networks, crash records, travel behavior, transportation demand, and asset inventories.
  • Supports research and technical analysis on land use and multimodal planning.
  • Work with the planning team to conduct equitable public outreach.
  • Create reports on data interpretations and findings and prepare and give effective presentations.
  • Possess a desire to learn and support transit service planning.
  • Study current and emerging technologies and trends in transit and multimodal transportation.
  • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment to address client needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation planning, urban planning, civil engineering or related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience is a plus.
  • Desire to work as part of a team in problem solving.
  • Desire to attain AICP certification or P.E. licensure.
  • Familiarity with geography, land use and transportation issues.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven technical writing ability.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in a number of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets and database software GIS capabilities a plus.
