We are seeking a full-time transportation engineer/planner to focus on SRF’s transportation planning group. In this role you will work on a variety of complex transportation planning projects and collaborate with a diverse group of planners, engineers, and designers to explore creative outcomes for our clients and community. You will collaborate with our team on a variety of tasks including data collection and analysis, GIS mapping, graphic development, planning level analysis, and the development of planning documents. You may also assist our Public Engagement Team with the preparation or execution of engagement events and activities for our planning projects. This position is based in our Minneapolis office. SRF offers a hybrid work model allowing our staff to work from the office full-time or work part-time in the office and part-time remotely.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the development of planning documents, including corridor studies, sub-area studies, and transportation plans.
  • Gathering and analyzing a variety of demographic and existing conditions information to understand the current state of a project area or location to inform the process.
  • Development of technical analysis including safety, operations, and traffic analysis. 
  • Development of report documentation that highlights the core project activities in a usable format for the intended audience.
  • Participating and contributing to project engagement activities with the public or project team.
  • Supporting an open and inclusive planning process.
  • Providing creative and resilient solutions and recommendations for our clients.
  • Collaborating with a broad team of planners, engineers, and designers to explore and identify solutions and recommendations.

Job Qualifications:

  • Interest in meaningful and inclusive planning processes and outcomes.
  • Bachelor or master’s degree in transportation planning, urban/regional planning, civil engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience and ongoing interest in core transportation (corridor) planning/engineering projects.
  • Strong technical and analytical/critical thinking skills required.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail highly desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Collaborative and enthusiastic attitude.
