Randy Geerdes Receives Charles W. Britzius Distinguished Engineer of the Year Award

Randy Geerdes

SRF’s  Randy Geerdes recently received the 2016 Charles W. Britzius Distinguished Engineer of the Year Award at the annual Minnesota Federation of Engineering, Science, and Technology Societies (MFESTS) awards banquet on February 27, 2016. Mr. Geerdes was nominated by ASCE-MN, for which he was Section President in 2006-2007. Randy joined SRF in 1976 and during his 40-year career worked with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and many cities and counties on award-winning interchange and highway engineering projects. After becoming a Principal in 1988, Randy managed SRF’s Highway Engineering Group. He led numerous large-scale transportation infrastructure projects including the I-35W/TH 62 Crosstown Commons Reconstruction, I-35E Parkway in Saint Paul, I-494/Tamarack Road Interchange in Woodbury, and TH 169 Bloomington Ferry Bridge across the Minnesota River. These projects are key links in the Twin Cities transportation system, improving access, mobility, and safety.

In 2001, Randy became SRF’s President and focused on management of the firm, participation in professional associations and legislative advocacy efforts. He has worked diligently to promote the importance and funding of a safe, efficient transportation system and support the consulting engineering community. Randy has actively encouraged participation in the political process and set a powerful example of how to be an effective citizen-lobbyist. Congratulations to Randy!
